I suppose everyone has to move on sometime. I love my CGE TV family. They were my first TV job post-college and post-UAAP, and being with them for almost two years has taught me so much. They’re a great group of crazy, weird, amazing people, and they’ve managed to convince me to do (and WEAR) the most unexpected, off-the-wall things. I really have no words to express my gratitude at having been able to put on a hobbit cloak and pretend to climb up the slopes of Mordor via my imagination and a tilted camera. I think everyone needs to do something similarly perplexing once in their life, and I got to do it weekly for over a year and a half. I’d stay for more, but the Fates have willed our parting and I can hope only that our paths may someday meet again. To the people in the photos above (courtesy of the lovely Lady Bernice) and everyone else who’s been a part of this project with me, many thanks! I wish you all luck in your continued efforts. Gratitude as well to the talented Mr. Blanco for accommodating us at The Vault as we said our farewells. Check out the place, it’s awesome (it’s at City Golf along Julia Vargas). And finally, to anyone who might read this, please support CGE TV IN DA LOOP! Weekdays on ABSCBN Channel 2, before sign off. May the Seven bless you all.

All In A Day’s Work

Spent yesterday with some really great people! Many thanks and lots of love to Ms. Gisele, Ms. Jen, Ayn, Amphie, Jen-Jen, John, Ate Neng, and everyone else (hope I got everyone’s names right, kahit baka mali spelling ng iba)! Had so much fun! :)

Plunging kung plunging! They had to put bronzer so I had cleavage and tape to keep the dress in place! Haha!

Nothing’s ever as perfect as it seems on TV! :p

My lovely visitor! Thanks for coming to see me, Ri!

The man behind the glam: my make-up artist, Jen-Jen!

Watch out for the finished product this August! :)

Watch It!: MISFITS

I don’t know why it always seems like AGES before the summer seasons premiere. And honestly, other than TrueBlood, I don’t know what there is to look forward to on TV (or, you know, torrents; let’s be honest here, people) til September.

So while you’re waiting for whatever shows float your boat, be it Gossip Girl or Glee or The Big Bang Theory, I suggest you give Misfits a go. It’s a super-short series produced by the UK’s E4 channel about a bunch of juvenile delinquents who get caught in a freak storm while doing community service. The experience leaves them with superpowers that turn out to be increasingly useful as the plot progresses.

Sounds canned when I put it that way, I know. But it’s a surprisingly unique plot, like a grittier, wittier, and very British version of Heroes. The characters are all very believable, probably because unlike in most American shows they didn’t get a bunch of kids who look like they’d been chiseled out of slabs of tanned, perfect flesh. They look real, eyebags and flab and everything. And there’s a little of that dry Brit humor that I love, so that’s a big plus.

It’s 6 eps in the first season and 7 in the second. Definitely worth checking out. Not for kids, though.

For those who have no patience for books, the new HBO television series (currently on its fifth episode) is a fantastic rendition. For once, network producers actually stayed true to the novels. Definitely not for kids, though; the series is every bit as violent and, well, lascivious as the books are.
